InterviewBuddy

Terms of Service

The agreement between you and InterviewBuddy. It covers what the service does, what it costs, what you may and may not do with it, and where our responsibility ends.

Last updated 10 September 2026

1. This agreement

By installing or using InterviewBuddy you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. InterviewBuddy is operated by BuildStory(“we”, “us”).

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use InterviewBuddy.
  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your login to yourself.
  • One account is for one person. Accounts may not be shared, resold or transferred.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

3. What the service does — and does not promise

InterviewBuddy listens to an interview, works out what was asked and suggests an answer. It also stores transcripts, writes recaps and scores practice rounds.

It is a generative AI tool, and it will sometimes be wrong

Answers are produced by a language model. They can be inaccurate, incomplete or confidently mistaken, and they are suggestions rather than facts. Transcription can mishear words, particularly over a poor connection or a dial-in. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.

We do not promise that using InterviewBuddy will get you a job, an offer, a better score or any other outcome.

4. Your responsibility when you use it live

InterviewBuddy can be used in a real interview, and how you use it there is your decision and your risk. Two things are entirely on you:

  • Consent to transcription. The extension transcribes the other people in your call. Many countries and several US states require the consent of everyone in a conversation before it may be recorded or transcribed. Find out what applies to you and comply with it.
  • The rules of the interview itself. Employers, universities, certification bodies and assessment platforms often prohibit outside assistance. Breaking those rules can cost you an offer, a role or a qualification. We take no position on any particular interview, and we accept no responsibility for the consequences.

If you are unsure whether you may use a tool like this in a given setting, ask the organisation running it first.

5. Plans, credits and billing

PlanWhat you get
Free5 credits to try the service. No card required.
Pro — weekly$1.99 per week, billed weekly, cancel any time.
Pro — monthly$6.99 per month, billed monthly, cancel any time.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro access until the period you have paid for runs out.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you live.
  • We may change prices, but not for a period you have already paid for. Existing subscribers get notice before a change takes effect.

6. Refunds

The free plan exists so you can test InterviewBuddy before paying, so we do not generally refund a period that has already started. If the service was broken for you and we could not fix it, email admin@buildstory.studio and we will deal with it fairly.

Nothing here removes a refund or cancellation right you have under consumer law where you live.

7. What you may not do

  • Break the law, or use InterviewBuddy to help anyone else do so.
  • Record or transcribe people where doing so without their consent is unlawful.
  • Impersonate another person, or sit an interview or assessment on someone else's behalf.
  • Resell, sublicense or rebrand the service, or share one account across several people.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract our prompts, models or source code.
  • Scrape the service, hammer the API, or work around credit limits and rate limits.
  • Upload malware, or content you have no right to share.
  • Interfere with the service's security or availability for anyone else.

8. Your content

What you put into InterviewBuddy — your CV, a job description, the transcripts of your sessions — remains yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: to process, store and transmit that content so it can be transcribed, answered, scored and shown back to you, including passing it to the providers listed in our Privacy Policy.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not publish it or share it with anyone beyond those providers.

You confirm you have the right to upload whatever you upload. Answers generated for you are yours to use.

9. Our intellectual property

The extension, the website, the InterviewBuddy name and logo, and everything behind them belong to us. These terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service. Nothing more is implied.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep InterviewBuddy running but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on third-party services — Chrome, meeting platforms, our AI and payment providers — that can change or fail outside our control. We may add, change or withdraw features. If we discontinue the service or a paid plan entirely, we will give notice and refund the unused part of anything you have paid.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, InterviewBuddy is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, nor for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost job offers, or lost or corrupted data, however caused.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to whichever is greater: the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is so, they do not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Indemnity

You agree to cover us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms or of any law — including any claim brought by someone you transcribed without their consent, or by an organisation whose interview rules you broke.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using InterviewBuddy at any time and delete your account by writing to us. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used fraudulently, or that puts the service or its users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first. If we close your account without cause, we refund the unused part of your current period.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which InterviewBuddy is operated, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts.

Before starting anything formal, please write to us at admin@buildstory.studio. Nearly everything is settled that way, and we would rather fix a problem than argue about it.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the extension before they take effect. Continuing to use InterviewBuddy after that means you accept the new version.
